Over the last 2 years Rockdale has recycled over 10,000 Tonnes per year, and is expected to top 11,000 Tonnes in 2007/08. By increasing our recycling, we are reducing the amount of waste going to landfill.

Recycling also has greenhouse benefits, reduces energy use and saves water. Making products out of recycled material uses less energy and water than using virgin materials.

The greenhouse gas benefits are equivalent to removing 1,200 cars from the road and the energy savings are equivalent to the energy requirements of 7,600 households each year.
